Restore hope with action

I had a moment today where I was like "That’s it, I quit!" I didn't actually feel that way, but in that moment it felt like the best option after a long, hard day filled with deadlines, struggles, problems, and never ending responsibilities.
I was feeling like I would never be able to catch up or succeed with all the demands required of me. Internally all I wanted to do was to run away from all of it for a little bit, and while feeling sorry for myself I remembered a book written by Angela Duckworth.

I had read Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance a few years ago and one point she made really stuck with me:

"It isn't suffering that leads to hopelessness. It's suffering you think you can't control"

Simple in concept, but really applicable in situations where you feel just completely overwhelmed and in over your head.

Simply put, find something you do have control over and take action to complete it. Taking action gives you control, and that control then leads to hope that you can handle what is being thrown at you next. Once you have established the confidence that you can handle anything tossed at you, you begin to be less swayed from the turbulence, easing the unwanted feelings of overwhelm and frustration.

I'm here to tell you to not give up and to find something to take action on. Doesn't matter if it is a small task, just act, and then slowly, brick by brick, small actions become larger actions and you will build the resilience and strength to weather any storm. Don't give up hope. You got this.
